About Jack's Pool

Jack's Pool is the main pleasure angling pool of the venue. An easy water to fish for all abilities and fishing styles.
Species of fish include, Common, Mirror and Ghost Carp. A large proportion of the Carp are between 4lbs and 8lbs with a good number pushing low doubles.

There are also large quantities of F1 Carp (hybrids) and Crucians. Other species regularly fished for and easily caught are Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Chubb and Perch.
Point View
The driveway around the pool makes fishing easy as you can park right behind your peg so no need to carry your fishing tackle too far, unless you want to fish from the 'point', which means you have to leave your car in the car park, where you will find the cafe, toilet block and rubbish bins.

Disabled anglers will also find some of the pegs suitable for wheelchairs, especially along the left hand bank as viewed from the cafe.

Because of the wide range of fish species in the pool, almost all baits work, making presentation the key to a successful days fishing.
Pole Fishing on Jack's Pool
A
s you would expect from this type of venue, the usual, Maggots, Caster, Worms, Sweet Corn (including coloured and flavoured) and Luncheon Meat all work extremely well but fish have been regularly caught on Pepperami, Prawns, Mussels and Bread Flake. Everyone that fishes this pool has their own favourite.

25lb+

Water depth is between 5 and 7 feet, making it ideal for float fishing and as the rules permit two rods per angler, many fish with a float rod and a ledger set-up of some type. For further information on fishing techniques see the drop down menu on the Jack’s Page tab at the top.

 Good Common

When targeting the Carp, Pellets and Boilies are widley used to great effect. Pellet sizes range from 4mm to 8mm and Boilies upto 15mm are known to produce good fish.

Halibut Oil Pellets and the Soft 'Hooker' type work well and sweet, brightly coloured Boilies seem to attract the Carp, especially during the months of May to September. Outside these months, spicy or fishy type boilies seem to work best.
In The Net

During the warmer weather and especially the evenings from June to September, this pool is renonwed for the quality of its surface fishing.

During the Thursday Open Matches that take place between 6.00pm and 9.00pm (see Match tab for more details) weights in excess of 90lb have been known with Carp being caught on Floating Bread, Pellet or Dog Biscuit. This is a great way to spend a few hours on an evening and a great way to introduce young and novice anglers to the sport of Carp Fishing.

The takes are Explosive!!
